"Just As I am"

"Just As I Am is my truth. It is me, plain and unvarnished, with the glitter and garland set aside. In these pages, I am indeed Cicely, the actress who has been blessed to grace the stage and screen for six decades. Yet I am also the church girl who once rarely spoke a word. I am the teenager who sought solace in the verses of the old hymn for which this book is named. I am a daughter and mother, a sister, and a friend. I am an observer of human nature and the dreamer of audacious dreams. I am a woman who has hurt as immeasurably as I have loved, a child of God divinely guided by His hand. And here in my ninth decade, I am a woman who, at long last, has something meaningful to say.” –Cicely Tyson

Oh, the questions I have for Ms. Tyson! A woman who has seen nine decades! What a perfect time to release a memoir. Can you imagine the things she has experienced? Her tragedies and triumphs? The immeasurable amounts of wisdom she has stored within? From her notable and lengthy acting career and work as a fashion model, to her infamous marriage to Miles Davis, I’m hoping her memoir will leave little questions. I’m also eager to get a view of the woman behind the fame; the woman who grew up in a strict religious household, and learn how her faith shaped her choices and views in the entertainment industry.

I’ve never been a huge fan of autobiographies or memoirs though I have enjoyed such books from the likes of Sam Cooke, Anne Moody, Aretha Franklin and Bobby Womack. I’m a fiction girl through and through, but I’ll be prying Ms. Tyson’s book open as soon as it lands on my doorstep. Release date is set for January 26, 2021. I’ve already pre-ordered my copy. Order yours on Amazon!

Always Love and blessings,

Tamarria

I am not a quitter. I will fight until I drop. It is just a matter of having some faith in the fact that as long as you are able to draw breath in the universe, you have a chance.
